We present lively and meaningful folk music of a wide variety that brings us together in this coffee house-style, monthly event (on the third Friday of each month, except July and August).

Welcome to Nanaimo Folk Connection, celebrating live folk music with local and imported talent, for only a $5 donation per show!

These monthly gatherings promote acoustic folk music. Folk music is defined here as non-commercial music arising from the experience of ordinary working people and often learned orally. Our Coffee House is 3rd Friday of the month September to June. We start at 7PM with an open stage until 8:15PM, followed by a feature act from 8:30PM-9:30PM, approximately.

We are located in Hope Lutheran Church, 2174 Departure Bay Road, Nanaimo, behind Brooks Landing Mall, between Cilaire Elementary School and the Cilaire Drive turnoff.

Remembering our friend Zlatko Zvekic

We are saddened to learn of the recent death of a frequent Nanaimo Folk Connections open stage singer, Zlatko Zvekic. Zlatko was delightful, and sang with a twinkle in his eye. We didn’t know that he also loved running. You can see in this picture that he was animated and fun! See the conversation below to hear some of his music. He really valued our coffeehouse and wanted us to have some of his music. Thank you, Zlatko, for enriching our lives with your own!
